Ne. Rashid et al., Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance study of the structure of lanthanumphosphate crystals and glasses, J MATER RES, 15(11), 2000, pp. 2463-2467
Lanthanum phosphate glasses were synthesized by melt quenching and characte
rized by x-ray diffraction, electron microprobe analysis, and solid-state n
uclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. A range of compositions near the me
taphosphate composition (75 mol% P2O5) was examined. Comparison of P-31 che
mical shifts and shielding anisotropies of glasses with those of the crysta
lline phases of La(PO3)(3) (metaphosphate) and LaP5O14 (pentaphosphate) wer
e consistent with the presence of primarily chainlike Q(2) phosphate groups
