Abstract
We investigate the response of a Josephson-coupled multilayer to an ul tra-short voltage pulse, The response is understood in terms of the dy namics of the phase differences across the layers, calculated from bot h the microscopic theory and the resistively shunted junction (RSJ) mo del, We discuss how such response might play a role in a novel multila yered switching devices for use in electronics applications, such as f lux quantum digital circuitry.
