Part of the reason for the failure of magnetically controlled Abrikoso
v vortex flow devices has been low magnetic coupling coefficients, com
bined with pinning: control currents tend to drive the control electro
de normal before sufficient flux is coupled to the flux flow channel t
o overcome pinning, We have observed that interesting devices may use
direct injection of flux, without an isolated control electrode, Exper
imental studies using opposite polarity currents show dramatic effects
in device characteristics; simulations show that these effects are ma
nifestations of vortex interactions.
