Large discrepancies seen in a Phase I I-129 Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (
AMS) interlaboratory comparison have prompted a subsequent Phase II compari
son. In Phase II of the I-129 AMS interlaboratory comparison, three separat
e laboratories prepared AgI from two environmental samples (IAEA 375 soil a
nd maple leaves). Each laboratory used its own chemical preparation method;
each of these methods being considerably different. The resulting six samp
les (two sets of three) were then distributed to the participating I-129 AM
S facilities and I-129/I-127 ratios measured. Results and discussion of the
Phase II interlaboratory comparison are presented. (C) 2000 Elsevier Scien
