Abstract
Ice samples from Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica, were analyzed for (CO2)-C- 14 and (CO)-C-14 by accelerator mass spectrometry. Only a small amount (sim ilar to2%) of in situ produced radiocarbon was detected. The calibrated rad iocarbon ages, corrected for in situ produced C-14, are in fair agreement w ith age estimates obtained from stratigraphical methods added to a gas incl usion model. The ages of the entrapped air range from recent to ca. 1200 AD . (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
