Abstract
The Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit has participated in a number of pro jects central to the question of the evolutionary fate of the Neanderthals and the spread of our own species across Eurasia. This paper outlines some of the key issues in this field and reports on some dating projects which h ave refined our knowledge of these momentous events in human history.
