Abstract
[GRAPHICS] Extensive (electron) delocalization in the novel heteromolecular pi -comple x of the hindered naphthalene cation radical (OMN+.) with naphthalene (NAP) accompanies the pronounced charge transfer absorption band at similar to 1 100 nm in the near IR. X-ray crystallography establishes the viability of t he unusual "club sandwich" structure despite the repulsive electrostatic fo rces inherent to the dicationic unit.
