The lattice dynamics of the spinel phases Li1+xTi2 xO4 (x = 0, 0.33) has be
en investigated by applying a de Launey angular force constant model up to
third nearest neighbours. The zone centre phonons of superconducting LiTi2O
4 and insulating Li1.33Ti1.67O4 are compared and analyzed with existing exp
erimental results. The effect on phonons for Mg substituted compounds Li0.9
Mg0.1Ti2O4 and Li0.7Mg0.3Ti2O4 is also studied and discussed.
