D. Wohrle et al., Synthesis and photoinduced polymerization of liquid crystalline diepoxidesfor bonding in the microsystem technique, POLYM ADV T, 11(8-12), 2000, pp. 739-746
The aim of this work is the synthesis of a liquid crystalline diepoxide 1 w
ith phase transition temperatures below 100 degreesC for application micro-
structured devices. Fm the cationic photopolymerization of 1 a photoinitiat
or 5 containing a substituent for intramolecular photosensibilization was p
repared. The photopolymerization from the liquid crystalline phase leads ac
cording to X-ray and polarized optical microscopy to a crosslinked polymer
with an ordered morphology. An adhesive test shows that the bonding strengt
h of polymers obtained from the liquid crystalline phase is higher compared
to polymers obtained from the crystalline or isotropic phase. Copyright (C
