Abstract
Leptogorgia styx, a new species of the holaxonian family Gorgoniidae from t he eastern Pacific inhabiting waters unusually deep for this genus is descr ibed and illustrated. Scanning electron micrographs of sclerites and morpho logy of axial mineral are presented.
