Rs. Kwok et al., MINIATURIZED HTS DIELECTRIC MULTILAYER FILTERS FOR SATELLITE-COMMUNICATIONS/, IEEE transactions on applied superconductivity, 7(2), 1997, pp. 3706-3709
Presently, most communication satellites contain well over a hundred o
f filters in their payload, Typical satellite multiplexers use dual mo
de cavity or dielectric resonator filters which are large and heavy, A
s future advanced electronic systems for satellite communication becom
e more complex, they will need even more filters requiring filter mini
aturization without performance degradation, Therefore, any improvemen
t in filter technology consistent with this requirement could enhance
satellite's performance, To reduce the size, weight, and cost of the m
ultiplexers without compromising performance, ne introduce a new class
oh dual mode multilayer filters consisting of YBa2Cu3O7-delta and LaA
lO3 thin films, The multilayer configuration in C-band, for example, o
ccupies only 1% of the volume of its dielectric resonator counterpart,
Details of the design, fabrication, and testing of these filters will
be presented.
