Abstract
Long range chemical order imposes a paired step structure on vicinal surfac es of A(3)B LI2 (001) and (110) alloys. A comparative study by He diffracti on and scanning tunnelling microscopy of Cu, Cu83Pd17 and Cu3Au vicinals al lows one to emphasize the generality of this phenomenon for stepped alloy s urfaces and to point out the differences between the two alloys.
