Abstract
The growth mode of sapphyrin deposited on a gold substrate by the Langmuir- Blodgett technique has been studied by scanning tunneling microscopy. The r esults suggest that the efficiency of the LB deposition is low during the f irst dippings and it increases after the completion of the first monolayer. The tilt angle formed by the molecules with the substrate has been evaluat ed as a function of coverage. Scanning tunneling spectroscopy characterizat ion suggests an electronic interaction with the substrate which is importan t for potential applications. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
