Abstract
The reaction of Fischer carbene complexes with conjugated dienylacetylene d erivatives followed by treatment with iodine leads to benzofuran derivative s in good-to-excellent yields. Equivalent products can be obtained from cou pling of conjugated enediynes with Fischer carbene complexes in the presenc e of hydrogen atom donors. (C) 2000 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
