Abstract
The p-acetoxybenzylsulfanyl protecting group is compatible with the tr iethylphosphite mediated cross-coupling of 4,5-bis(alkylsulfanyl)-1,3- dithiol-2-ones, providing access to bis(protected)-tetrathiafulvalenes , and thus to tetrathiafulvalenedithiolate dianion 10, which can be al kylated to give unsymmetrical tetrakis (alkylsulfanyl)tetrathiafulvale ne derivatives.
