A single specimen of the Canada goose Branta canadensis, shot during the 19
64 spring bird migration in eastern Slovakia and deposited at Saris Museum
in Bardejov town, documents the rare occurrence of this goose in the territ
ory of Slovakia. It was found to harbour five helminth species, namely hyme
nolepidid tapeworms Wardium creplini, Retinometra longicirrosa and Tscherko
vilepis setigera, and the nematodes Epomidiostomum sp. and Amidostomum sp.
The species W. creplini represents a new geographical record. The morpholog
y of cestode material is briefly described.
