THE SELECTIVITY OF POLYMER MEMBRANE ION-SELECTIVE ELECTRODES OBEYING THE ION-EXCHANGER MODEL

The emf response of ion exchange type ISEs (which include actually the neutral carrier and charged carrier ISEs) in mixed solutions of a pri mary and interfering ion has been recently derived by Bakker et al. We have summarized and analyzed these results. An attempt has been made to keep the essential parts of the treatment very simple but at the sa me time exact. This should help the wide acceptance of the results. Ou r conclusions are naturally only valid if the ISE behaves as an ion-ex changer and all other assumptions are fulfilled.
