We present observations of the sky brightness obtained with a high-speed, w
ide field of view photometer and with a spectrometer at the Wise Observator
y during the 1999 Leonid meteor campaign. The photometric measurements dete
cted meteors and searched for overall increases in sky brightness. Spectros
copic measurements made at the zenith were used to measure the brightness o
f the Na I 5890 Angstrom doublet during the two nights before and during th
e Leonid peak. No significant enhancement took place in these transitions.
The lack of increased Na emission is consistent with the estimates of mass
influx during the storm.
