Abstract
Mycotic aneurysms of the extracranial carotid artery are rare and diff icult to diagnose and can lead to significant medical morbidity. Treat ment of these lesions requires expert surgical management and necessit ates an assiduous search for an underlying source. We report a case of a ruptured mycotic aneurysm of the cervical carotid artery due to Sal monella infection successfully treated by wide excision and saphenous vein patch angioplasty.
