Abstract
A new route discovery optimisation scheme based on unicast queries is propo sed that results inas much as a 30% reduction in the number of query packet s propagated whenever a new route needs to be discovered. It achieves this by unicasting the query packets along an existing route towards a target ne ighbour. Simulation results show that a network with a high degree of nodal mobility benefits most from this optimisation scheme.
