Glycoprotein fractions (GPF) from blood serum of tumor-bearing animals (B16
melanoma and Guerin carcinoma) were purified by affinity chromatography on
Sepharose columns and analyzed. The growth of transplantable tumors was sh
own to be accompanied by the changes in structure and properties of GPFs un
der study, in particular by the changes in sugar content in the carbohydrat
e moieties of GPFs. The content of fucose in serum decreased as far as the
tumors were increasing in size.
