Inelastic collisions of electrons with cadmium diiodide molecules were stud
ied by the extended crossed-beam technique. Cross sections for dissociative
excitation of spectral lines of the excited atom and the singly charged io
n of cadmium were measured at an incident electron energy of 30 eV. The obt
ained results are compared with data on direct excitation cross sections in
e-Cd collisions.
