Recently, new experimental data have been published on the compressibility
and phase diagram of iron based on static and dynamic measurements at press
ures and temperatures of the outer and inner core. Some of these data are i
nconsistent with one another and with previous results. Accordingly, these
data provide diverging numerical estimates of thermodynamic and geophysical
parameters characterizing the state of the Earth's core. This paper presen
ts results of revision and improvement of data on the phase diagram of iron
based on experiments with shock compression and isentropic expansion corre
sponding to melting at the normal pressure.
