Abstract
By the geometrical optics method, the phase increment of magnetostatic surf ace waves (MSSWs) propagating in ferrite films (FFs) and ferrite-metal film structures magnetized by a nonuniform valley-type field is calculated. It is shown that the phase increment in the second medium exceeds that in the first medium by an order of magnitude. As compared with the same media magn etized by a uniform field, the phase increment increases approximately five times. Therefore, the use of waves in media magnetized by a valley-type fi eld is very promising for the development of microwave phase shifters.
