Preparing (111)-oriented C-60 crystalline films on NaCl substrate

In this paper, a simple but practical two-step deposition scheme is propose d and applied to grow (Ill)-oriented C-60 crystalline films. First, by slow ly depositing several layers of C-60 and then gradually increasing the depo sition rate, (1 1 1)-oriented C-60 crystalline films were prepared on NaCl (0 0 1) substrate, in which the average size of the C-60 grains was about 1 1.5 mu. This result shows some possibility to grow single-crystal C-60 film s on alkali halide single-crystal substrates. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V . All rights reserved.
