We report on 7 patients with severe, complicated Kawasaki disease treated w
ith oral prednisolone, after apparently unsuccessful intravenous immunoglob
ulin treatment. An additional eighth patient was a Jehovah's Witness, who w
as given steroid and aspirin as first-line treatment. These findings suppor
t a beneficial role for steroids in intravenous immunoglobulin-resistant Ka
wasaki disease.
