Abstract
We report on 7 patients with severe, complicated Kawasaki disease treated w ith oral prednisolone, after apparently unsuccessful intravenous immunoglob ulin treatment. An additional eighth patient was a Jehovah's Witness, who w as given steroid and aspirin as first-line treatment. These findings suppor t a beneficial role for steroids in intravenous immunoglobulin-resistant Ka wasaki disease.
