Abstract
Manzurul Islam outlines the state of scholarly publishing in Saudi Arabia, including book and journal publication. The author discusses the impediment s that Saudi publishers continue to face, including limited training for ed itors and production managers and minimal funding for marketing. Islam sugg ests that rite industry in the Middle East would benefit from the establish ment of training programs in developing regions and collaborative productio n and co-publication ventures with Asian and Western presses.
