There is often considerable confusion about the precise meaning of colour t erms that appear in various Latin texts. Roy Osborne discusses here an ofte n neglected but invaluable reference source, written by the Renaissance poe t Antonio Telesio; which specifies the appearance of a surprisingly compreh ensive range of colour-related terms, a number of which identify the colour s of various pigments and dyes.
