Av. Konkolovich et Va. Loiko, Static Wiener spectrum of a thin film of polymer-encapsulated ferroelectric liquid crystals, OPT SPECTRO, 89(4), 2000, pp. 619-623
The expression for the spectral power density of the static spatial optical
noise (Wiener spectrum) in the light transmitted by a thin film of polymer
-encapsulated ferroelectric liquid crystals is derived. Monodisperse half-s
pherical droplets of a bistable ferroelectric liquid crystal with a homogen
eous planar orientation of directors are considered. Within the framework o
f the model of nonoverlapping disks, an analysis is performed concerning th
e influence of spatial correlation of the droplet positions on the shape of
the noise spectrum and the signal-to-noise ratio during the realignment of
the droplet director in an external electric field. The influence of misal
ignment of the droplet axes on the level of the static spatial optical nois
e is studied. (C) 2000 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".
