Abstract
Spatial solitons in planar glass structures can create reconfigurable guidi ng channels where low-intensity light bits can propagate. By using 3-ps-lon g pulses the solitonic regime has been reached and, within this solitonic c hannel, a picosecond signal at the typical intensities of the fibre telecom munications was carried. At the output the carried signal had the same size of the solitonic channel, keeping its hyperbolic secant shape. (C) 2000 El sevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
