For vinylcaprolactam copolymers with vinylpyrrolidone and crotonic acid, th
e nanosecond relaxation times which characterize intramolecular mobility we
re measured in aqueous solutions by the luminescence depolarization techniq
ue under heating or the addition of structuring agents: phenol, sodium dode
cyl sulfate, and NaCl. Under the same conditions, luminescence techniques w
ere used to study the interaction of these copolymers with low-molecular-ma
ss cations (Acridine Orange and Auramine) or anions (magnesium 8-anilino-1-
naphthalenesulfonate and sodium dodecyl sulfate).
