Abstract
Since the austenitic steels carburation is an important source of damages, un successful, yet, trials were made to explain the phenomenon. The knowled ge about and the control of the carburation phenomenon are of interest for the Romanian petrochemical industry as well, so that the necesity to develo p a metering equipment, capable to assess the carburation degree of these p rocess tubes appeared.
