Abstract
The complexes [M-2(L-4H)(H2O)(2)].xH(2)O (L = N,N'-bis(carboxymethyl)ethane dithioamide (LI) and N,N'-bis(1-carboxyethyl)ethanedithioamide (L-2); x = 0 ,5L=L-1, M = Zn(II); x = 1, L=L-2 M=Zn(II); x = 3, L=L-1, N=Cd(II) and [Cd( L-2)(CH3COO)](CH3COO) have been prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductance measurements and IR spectral data. In the [M-2(L-4H)(H2O)(2)].xH(2)O complexes the ligands act as bis(tridentate s) with N,S,O - coordination To metal (II) ions, whereas in the [Cd(L-2)(CH 3COO)](CH3COO) complex the L-2 ligand acts as bidentate and co-ordinate thr ough sulfur. The thermal analysis data for LI and their Zn(ll) and Cd(ll) c omplexes indicate that the ligand is more stable that the complexes.
