Abstract
Sampling cartridges impregnated with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (MDPH) were used to measure carbonyl compounds in two sites in Athens, one s ite in the city centre and the other on the fringes of the city. The s ampling was carried out during two periods 18-22 January and 6-9 April 1993, every 2 hours between 7:00 am to 19.00 pm. Among others, the ca rbonyl levels during a winter air pollution episode and the diurnal va riation of carbonyl concentrations were studied.
