8th grade students (aged 14 years) of selective language classes in basic s
chool (Group 1 - N = 20, Group 2 - N = 21) were measured by Intelligence St
ructure Test (IST 70), Achievement Motivation Questionnaire (AMQ) and a str
uctured interview was applied. The above-average re suits in IST 70 do not
correspond to the low level of motivation found in AMQ. Study preferences s
howed adequate tendencies toward intellectual abilities of the students.
