Abstract
Lithium N-benzyl-N-alpha -methyl-4-methoxybenzylamide is employed as a homo chiral ammonia equivalent for the asymmetric synthesis of beta -haloaryl-be ta -amino acid derivatives using a conjugate addition/oxidative deprotectio n strategy.
