Abstract
A synthesis of the tetracyclic decalin part of azadirachtin in the naturall y occurring form is described. The key reactions involve the Corey-Bakshi-S hibata (CBS) asymmetric reduction of the ketone, and an intramolecular Diel s-Alder (IMDA) reaction.
