Multigel (R): Gel technology for water control

Multigel(R) is a gel technology developed in PDVSA-Intevep to control high water cuts in oil production processes. It is a polymeric system that can b e formulated with properties to reduce water permeability without affecting significantly oil permeability (Disproportionate Permeability Reduction (D PR) effect), allowing for a broad range of water control applications. This paper presents the most relevant characteristics of this technology, its a pplications and results obtained.
