Abstract
When a high fluid production occurs, the profitability of oil wells is seri ously affected. This is especially due to a fast declination oil rare and i ncrease of operating costs by the need of handling high volumes of water an d gas. Additionally, fine migration, scale deposition and corrosion problem s are shown, Gel and foamed gels to control water and gas, and foams to con trol gas constitute technological options to solve these problems. However; an appropriate well selection, an accurate diagnosis and a proper formulat ion design are required. This papaer presents the characteristics of mentio ned technologies, as well as the factors to be considered in their applicat ion, which will allow a better selection.
