Abstract
Kinetics of CaO desulfurization reaction and the effects of some catalysts on it were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis method. The results s howed that the conversion of CaO increases with the increase of temperature . The kinetic behavior of desulfurization can be explained by grain model. The activation energy of surface reaction (E-a) and the activation energy o f product layer diffusion (E-p) were determined by using the model. The ove rall rate of desulfurization is controlled initially by surface chemical re action, and then shift to product layer diffusion control. Some alkali meta l chlorides were chosen as catalysts. These salts can improve both the init ial reaction rate and final fraction conversion of CaO. E-a decreases order ly when the added catalysts changed from Li,Na,K to Cs, while E-p increases .
