Qb. Xue et al., Atomic Force Microscope observation of Langmuir film of side chain liquid crystalline polysiloxane, ACT CHIM S, 58(11), 2000, pp. 1374-1379
The Langmuir film of a side chain liquid crystalline polysiloxane with chir
al end groups at the air/water interface has been observed using Atomic For
ce Microscope (AFM). The domains of the polysiloxane formed at the interfac
e and the aggregation and rearrangement process of the film have been studi
ed. The nano - scale dispersed particles can form one - layer structure and
bilayer overlapped structure in succession when compressing. The models ar
e proposed to explain the formation, aggregation and rearrangement of these
nanoscale domains of the polysiloxane liquid crystals.
