Abstract
Photocycloaddition of electron-deficient arylalkenes to chrysene stereosele ctively occurred at 5,6-position of chrysene ring to give two (2 pi + 2 pi) photocycloadducts through sandwich-type singlet exciplexes. Photocycloreve rsion took place via the excited singlet states of the photocycloadducts.
