Abstract
The known triterpene glycosides hederagenin 3-O-alpha -L-arabinopyranoside, hederagenin 3-O-beta -D-glucopyranoside, oleanolic acid 3-O-beta -sophoros ide, hederagenin 3-O-beta -sophoroside, and their 28-O-beta- gentiobiosyl e sters, respectively, in addition to the new triterpene glycoside 3-O-beta - sophorosyl-28-O-alpha -L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->4)-O-beta -gentiobiosyl heder agenin are isolated from Fatsia japonica (Araliaceae) seeds. The structures of these glycosides are established using chemical and spectral methods.
