Burow's solution has been found to inhibit the in vitro growth of most comm
only occurring bacteria found in the discharging ear. These organisms were
inoculated onto appropriate agar plates that contained serial dilutions of
aluminium acetate. Results show that the lowest dilution able to inhibit th
e growth of these organisms lies between a 1:80 and a 1:160 dilution of Bur
ow's solution.
