Abstract
Amandinea crassiuscula Giralt & Etayo, a new corticolous lichen species is described from the Iberian Peninsula. It is characterized by a thickly crus tose to subsquamulose thallus that lacks secondary lichen compounds, lecide ine apothecia, Buellia-type ascospores with rugulate ornamentation and fili form spermatia. The new species is compared with other corticolous Amandine a and Buellia species, such as A. punctata and B. chloroleuca. Habit photog raphs of the new species and illustrations of its thallus, spermatia and as cospores are also provided. (C) 2000 The British Lichen Society.
