Abstract
A method of determining the core dimensions in elliptical-core fiber is pre sented. It involves calculations of cutoff frequencies and direct measureme nt of cut-off wavelengths for higher order modes. The accuracy of the propo sed method was tested using three elliptical core fibers of different exter nal diameter, which were drawn from the same preform.
