The availability of an inexpensive, self-processing, environmentally stable
material with good spatial frequency response would necessarily improve th
e possibility that further successful applications of holography would emer
ge. One possible recording material is an acrylamide based photopolymer sys
tem. To further the development of this system a bulk testing system is dev
eloped. To achieve this a computer controlled automated rig for the recordi
ng and testing of Holographic Optical Elements, H.O.E.s, becomes a necessit
y. The control;software of the automated rig war implemented using LabView;
and incorporates an inverse scatter analysis program, which can be used to
extract the refractive index modulation and the thickness of the gratings.
