R. Tandon et al., SYNTHESIS OF NOVEL TETRAPEPTIDES AS POTENTIAL ACE-INHIBITORS, Indian journal of chemistry. Sect. B: organic chemistry, including medical chemistry, 36(5), 1997, pp. 386-390
Pepsin hydrolysis of wheat gluten yields a tetrapeptide, Leu-Gln-Pro-A
rg (1) which exhibits potent ACE inhibitory activity. Analogues (2-7)
of this peptide have been synthesized and examined for ACE inhibitory
activity in vitro and in vivo. None of the compounds synthesized showe
d improved in vivo activity. However, compound 6 has been found to be
as active as captopril in in vitro assay.
