The development and installation of an fully automatically working on-line
ICP emissionspectrometer for analysing waste pickle liquor from sampling ov
er sample preparation up to measuring and presentation of results is a furt
her step in automation of analytical working programs, The system has been
installed for process control in the frame of starting a special precleanin
g equipment removing trace impurities from waste hydrochloric pickle liquor
at Thyssen Krupp Stahl AG, The purificated waste pickle liquor is automati
cally sampled and analysed, In the regeneration process a very pure iron ox
ide is produced which is used as a high tech raw material for magnetic appl
ications. The on-line ICP emissionspectrometer is established as a definite
part in process control and quality securing producing HP thigh purity) ir
on oxide and has proved successfully in praxis. A uniformly high quality of
the HP iron oxide is secured.
