Abstract
A qualitative method based on thin-layer chromotography (TLC) is descr ibed that reliably detects ivermectin as a fluorescent derivative in e xtracts of cattle dung. The limit of detection (LOD) was less than or equal to 40 ng/g of wet dung. These observations were statistically do cumented and shown visually using digital imagery. Residues were detec ted in fresh dung deposited by animals treated 10 days previously with a topical doss (500 mu g/kg body weight) of ivermectin.
